Real-time measurement of a flow field

Maximize your wind tunnel time with real-time measurement of flow by immediately seeing the effects of your aerodynamic optimization.

Measure flow around previously unmeasurable areas

An automated traverse or operator may guide a probe in the flow region of interest. The probe’s position is precisely tracked with a camera system. Due to the size and nature of the system, the operator is able to measure and visualize flow around objects which were previously difficult by design to measure.

Scan and Paint System

The measured data is interpolated and the flow field is instantaneously visualized to the user. This is essentially an intuitive scan-and-paint approach of the flow in real-time. This human-based scanning approach is very efficient, as even in regions of large gradients, the scanning is refined and no machine-teaching, even for complex geometries, is necessary.

Efficient digital data acquisition

The measured 3D data is accessible in real-time, typically on a large screen or projected to a wall with good visibility during testing. Data is also available offline, using either the ProCap software or standard CFD visualization and analysis tools, for further analysis.

  • Communication and timing of the different flow probes and tracking system
  • Data conversion with probe calibration, spatial interpolation, storage and import/export
  • Import and display of model geometry
